Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) CSCGW is proud to be part of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP-formally Food Stamps), a city-wide collaborative effort to end hunger. We reach out to identify and educate clients who may be eligible for food benefits. Because our communities consist of large families and many elderly who struggle to keep food on the table, our staff has worked to make attaining food benefits a painless process for those eligible. We are now able to offer SNAP facilitated enrollment and re-certification through the paperless office system (POS), a timely and accurate system for the enrollment and re-certification processes. In addition to enrollment and re-certification, CSCGW is an approved center for mediation to assist and advocate for clients whose applications and cases may be wrongfully denied or at risk of terminating. To enroll or recertify on site please come in and speak with one of our Food Stamp Specialist 378 Flushing Ave, between Kent and Franklin Ave For additional information on Food Stamp Facilitated Enrollment Sites http://www.foodbanknyc.org/news/food-stamp-facilitated-enrollment-sites Nutrition Outreach and Education Program (NOEP) Since 1987, Hunger Solutions New York has managed the Nutrition Outreach and Education Program (NOEP) in New York State. This unique model offers free and confidential services to connect hungry New Yorkers with nutrition assistance programs. NOEP’s primary focus is increasing participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). SNAP is our nation’s first line of defense against hunger, stretching the monthly food budgets of all who meet program guidelines. Participants use an electronic benefits transfer (EBT) card to buy food from local stores and farmers’ markets. NOEP works to increase participation in the School Breakfast Program and the Summer Food Service Program, which provide nutritious meals to school-aged children.
